Today Mateo and the neighbors Marissa and Morgan built a "frosty" snowman. They had lot's of fun! We even put his Peruvian scarf on the snowman, which went well with his chapped cheeks ...

Hoy Mateo y las vecinas hicieron un hombre de nieve defrente de la casa. Se nota que el muneco tiene una bufanda de alpaca y que Mateo tiene las mejillas bien quemaditas. Ha sido un invierno "a lo andino."

Snow!!!...Nieve!

We got so much snow today...well a lot for North Carolina. School was canceled for everyone (although in this state, we get to make it up on a Saturday!). We played outside about 4 times in 15 minute stints, throwing our clothes in the dryer upon entering the house. Mateo is adjusting to the idea of snow. He was excited about it, but didn't enjoy the wet or cold...although who does?...

Habia nevado un monton hoy dia. Cancelaron las clases, asi que todos nos quedamos juntitos, disfrutando la linda nieve. Mateo salio nada menos que 4 veces a jugar en la nieve. Al principio, no le gusto para nada, prefiriendose no encusiarse ni desordenar la nieve que se encontraba bien ordenadito en el jardin. Pero poquito a poco, se acostumbro , diciendo "chof chof chof" mientras chapaleaba por todo el jardin.

For Miguel's birthday, we were able to get out an go to the movies, which was fun. We saw Frost/Nixon...pretty good. Before heading to the movies, we celebrated with cake at home. As you can see from the pictures, Mateo had his two best friends in the neighborhood, Marissa and Morgan, come over for some birthday cake...

Festejamos el cumpleanos de Miguel con las ninitas que viven al costado de la casa, comiendo torta, tomando limonada, y bailando al ritmo de Yola Polastry. No hay mejor manera de hacerte jovencito cuando te cumples los 29.

Mateo's Playdate...La "reunion" de Mateo

Mateo had a play date, which he calls his "reunion," over the winter vacation. He loves his good friend Lily, who goes to daycare with him in Chapel Hill. We went to Marbles Museum and Mateo loved showing Lily the ropes there. The parents had a lot of fun too, chatting as we chased after the kids. ..

Hace poco que Jill se fue a una reunion con sus amigas, asi que Mateo, siendo la mosca que es, decidio que el tambien tenia que irse a una reunion con una amiga de su guarderia, Lili, asi que lo coordinamos con los papas de la chica y poco despues se reunieron en el museo de ninos en Raleigh.

The Saturday after Christmas, we all drove to Wilmington, NC (about a 2 hour drive) to see the battleship and have dinner. It was a great trip. Mateo was fascinated with the ship. He did the cutest thing there, he would make sure our whole family was together as we went from room to room in the ship. He would wait a the door and help Mom, Dad, Lito, Lita, and all his Tios into the next compartment of the ship...such a little gentleman already :-) ...

El sabado despues de navidad, fuimos a la playa en Wilmington, Carolina del Norte (a 2 horas de Raleigh) a ver una nave de la epoca de la segunda guerra mundial. A Mateo le encanto el barco. Una vez estuvo adentro, aseguraba que toda la familia esuviese presente antes de dejarse ingresar a otra sala del barco. Se paraba en la puerta de cada sala tocando cordialmente las espaldas de cada uno de sus familiares antes de que entraba el mismo. Que nino mas cortes!
