Mateo's Christmas...La navidad de Mateo

We had a great holiday with Miguel's family. Everyone was here, including Korah and Nate who flew in from California. On Mateo's last day of daycare, he even performed in a play as Rudolph! He is getting so big and actually has the idea and anticipation of opening presents. He loved all his gifts and was on "cloud 9" all day.

Mateo dressed up to fight fires (I love this one because it looks like he is thinking with a "think bubble" above him) .

Mateo "el bombero."

In downtown Raleigh, there is a museum just for kids...they have places to dress up, play in water, and with trains (Mateo's favorite).

Christmas at Oak View Plantation. Navidad en la plantacion de Oak View

Mateo and "Papa Noel"

Mateo in a 1850's house on the plantation

We went to the Oak View Plantation for a holiday celebration last Saturday night. Mateo got to ride in a horse drawn wagon, drink hot apple cider, and eat cookies. He also got to meet Santa Claus! It was his first encounter with the jolly old fellow and he didn't even cry, but didn't sit on his lap either. He just picked up his candy cane, told him what gift he wanted, and posed for a picture. It was really fun; we even met up with Rebecca and Demian there and bumped into Mateo's two friends that live next door!

We thought we would share pictures of Mateo's Turkey he made for Thanksgiving with Lucy at his daycare. He is very proud and we are using it as our table's centerpiece. We had a great dinner at Rebecca and Demian's on Thanksgiving. Mateo especially likes their dogs, and likes playing with Genghis! We have also enjoyed hearing Mateo do the Turkey "gobble, gobble, gobble."

Snow!...Nieve!

Mateo and Abuelita...brrrr!

Mateo and Mommy (In this one Mateo is trying to catch a snowflake on his tongue)

Mateo, all bundled up with his "chullo" cap

A few weeks ago, we woke up to snow! We opened Mateo's windows and he literally woke up, looked outside, and exclaimed, "NIEVE!" It was just enough to fall, but not enough to stick to the ground. It is hard to see the actual flakes, but this is Mateo enjoying the snow at home before we head off to Chapel Hill for work.

Papa and Mateo

A kiss from Mommy

Although the leaves have now fallen and things look a lot more like winter, the fall here in NC was really beautiful! These are pictures taken in front of Abuelita's and Abuelito's house.

Mateo's trip to the farm...Mateo se va a la granja

OK, so this is our first attempt at having a "blog." We thought it would be a good way to share pictures and keep everyone updated on our family. So, we thought we would post a picture from gathering pecans at a NC farm. There were not many pecans (most were still in the trees), but Mateo had a great time anyway! This is him enjoying a Ford tractor.
